Stun Guns: Do They Work Effectively As a Defense Tool?
A stun gun, also known as an electric weapon (or taser), emits an electric current via two probes which deliver an incapacitating shock which causes momentary muscle weakness or loss of balance. It is not lethal, and can only be used in self-defense where a high degree of probability of bodily harm has been presented. There are two types of stun gun devices: tasers and zappers. Taser devices usually feature a lower voltage and the device has a much shorter "action" range than do the zappers. Some devices have firing capabilities, but they are rare.
